My brief was to developing a concept with emotional intelligence
in order to create a positive impact on an individual or a larger
group considering current global issues. I designed a portable
hand washing station that would scan people to define the state
of germs on their hands. The machine would enable people to
wash and disinfect their hands without touching anything and
it would also include a face mask dispenser.

To find out how easily germs spread without us
noticing I drew sections and top views of my main
work spaces at home where IÂ spent most of my
time doing my projects during lockdown. Both of
these spaces were also used by other people in the
house. I documented which items in those areas
were touched the most and by who.

After considering the global issues as well as doing my research about germ
transmission I decided to design something that would help us all prevent
spreading the virus as much as possible.
Hand sanitizing stations would scan people’s hands with a special light to
check and show them the germs on their hands. It would then either allow them
to wash their hands or distribute hand sanitizing gel on their hands without them
touching anything. The machine would include a clear instruction explaining how
to wash hands properly. It would also include a face mask and gloves dispensers
and a bin for the ones they used before.
